Love The Article!~ It is so True!! We may try to deny it, but who really wants to be meak and mild?? I want to run faster and lift more weight than any guy out there. It will make them all wonder, "how is she faster and stronger than me while still having a smile on her face??" No cupcakes HERE!!

Kathrine

Amen Lis!!!!!
So why don't we post and freak about our times????? We do in class... I was pissed Becky and Mary smoked me so bad with that kettlebell workout.. we pay attention 2 how much which person can lift and how fast... I vote it's time for all of us to be more vocal on the main site ( and ours ) and that we begin to make an even stronger effort in our WOD's!!! Fight to the death it is !!!!!!!! I can't wait!!!!

Lis

I love it! WOD result posting starts on Friday. Be ready. Or face the shame of being whupped by Iron Mary again. After all, she's only TWICE your age! (Go Mary!)

Competition is what its all about, if you ask me...against those much better than us it always ups my game...against those behind me...admit it or not it makes us feel good...but mostly it's the competition against myself that truly keeps me pushing!

Claudia

What a great article, I too have fallen in love (and hate :)) with Cross Fit. I am an extremely competitive woman, so much so that I am probably too hard on myself, I am working on that! But I love the way Cross Fit makes me feel and I intend to go at it for as long as my body allows, I am already 40 so I hope it will be at least another 30 years or so!!

Lis

Glad to hear it, Claudia! The forties are fabulous. Remember -- time gave to us more than it ever took away. And the same could be said for CrossFit!

Roar, CrossFit women, roar!

Hello Lis,
CrossFit Vallejo here...great article. I'm going to print it and put it up in our gym. I just want to say that GIRLS ROCK!!! This past Saturday we had 4 CrossFit newbies take the floor. 2 men and 2 women. Guess who was able to complete the official warm up and the WOD (mini cindy). The WOMEN!!! It was awesome. One guy gave up after the first round of the WU, feeling faint. The second guy met pukie after the 2nd round of the WU. The girls, though slower in their exercise were consistent and paced. The guys were in shock and all we could do was smile. We had to remind them to drop their egos at the door. Great site. I love your posts and articles. Keep up the good work.

Lis

Thanks for the kind words, CrossFit Vallejo! Just checked out your site and you guys are cooking -- nice videos!

Laura

It's so awesome to see other women out there kicking ass at Crossfit! Its so true.. Women only ever seem to be encouraged to lift small weights and not really push themselves, unlike men. (That's at normal gyms I mean!) It's go great that at Crossfit I'm pushed to the extreme and I'm always trying to beat the guys.. When I do it's the best feeling :)

Lis

Glad to hear it, Laura! CrossFit has a way of taking that guy/girl rivalry and making it a lot of fun. I think the tone set by Coach -- along with the example set by Nicole -- helps to create a welcoming atmosphere for anybody, male or female, who is willing to do the work.
